All eyebrows went up when it was announced that funnyman Danny McBride had been cast in Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant. Fans worrying about too much comedy in the movie? Never fear.

In an interview with HitFix McBride dropped the following tidbit of info. “This shit is dark. There is no comic relief in this at all. This is a dark horror movie.” Music to our ears.

Alien: Covenant is headed our way on August 4, 2017. Along with the returning Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender, the cast also includes Danny McBride, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Benjamin Rigby, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, and Callie Hernandez.

Specific plot details for the new film are being closely guarded; but it is believed to follow the crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet, who discover what they believe is an uncharted paradise but is, in fact, a dark, dangerous world, the only inhabitant of which is David (Fassbender), the “synthetic” and survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
