Famous Monsters of Filmland Getting a Movie Series Reboot

We already know that Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine is making a return. Now it seems they’re the inspiration for a news series of creature features showcasing five of cinema’s most iconic monsters being produced by the ambitious low budget production company Halcyon International Pictures under the banner Famous Monsters of Filmland: Reboot.

Halcyon has announced the slate of films on its website, and with the Cannes Film Festival just wrapping, I assume we should be hearing more information about budget-conscious horrors in the very near future. For now, here’s the official announcement:

For decades they roamed cinemas, video stores, and late night TV, haunting us, exciting us, and inspiring us. Now the Famous Monsters are back…in five ALL NEW movies ready to entertain an all new generation.

DRACULA: REBORN
MUMMY: RESURRECTED
FRANKENSTEIN: REGENERATED
WEREWOLF: REBELLION
CREATURE: RETURNS

NOW IN PRODUCTION

They’ve also made available the promo art seen below. Why none for The Creature Returns, I wonder?

Halcyon even has a promo trailer composed of footage that should give us a taste of what to expect. Cannot say for sure how much of this footage is from the actual movies or if it’s just a promo reel reflective of what to expect when the movies go into production. There is a sort of ‘Dave DeCoteau’ vibe going on here.

After 3,000 years Imho Tep is finally coming out….OF THE GRAVE!

      • Terminal

And what is the werewolf rebelling against?

WTF!!!!! It looks like they walked onto the set of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS and said to some random extra “Hey,you wanna play Dracula”? And Frankenstein? Looks like a freakin’ TNA wrestler. And not one that wins.

Ok,let’s end on a positive. Werewolf in outerspace? YES!!!!! I’m all for it since I enjoyed the hell out of Jason X! Please let this be good we are lacking good werewolf films as of late.

Oh Lord…Dracula looks like McLovin. I adore the idea of FMM having a film series of the iconic monsters, low budget or not. But looking at the promo and trailers I can’t say I am very hopeful.
