Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever pic! (click to see it bigger)Five years ago Eli Roth made his way onto our scene with his debut feature, Cabin Fever, a movie more or less universally loved by DC staff. Of course, Eli went on to make the phenomenon that is Hostel and the rest is history. So far.

Now The Roost helmer Ti West is in the director’s chair for Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever, a movie many are questioning the need for on this great big Internet of ours. Well, we managed to get a man named Eric on-set for the second-to-last day of shooting, and what he saw and reported back was more than enough to justify the sequel to me.

“200 gallons of blood. Three and a half 55-gallon drums of the sticky red. To see it sitting off-set with a frothy top is one thing; now imagine 60-plus screaming teenagers spurting all of that blood out of various severed appendages, open wounds and pus ridden rashes,” he writes in his full set report, which you will see closer to the film’s release.

Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever pic! (click to see it bigger)“Where some may see Eli Roth’s absence from the production of the picture as an instant burial for the film,” he continues, “other personnel returning from the original may ensure the sequel’s success. Lauren Moews, producer of both the original Cabin Fever and Borderland, returns for Cabin Fever 2 and is hellbent on making sure that horror fans see a positive progression in the Fever sequel.”

Thankfully the right people seem to be behind this one; though Cabin Fever isn’t exactly a horror classic, it’s still well-loved by fans, and the sequel’s got a lot to live up to. Sounds like it’s doing pretty good so far.

Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever pic! (click to see it bigger)Our man Eric even got a chance to talk to the film’s bad guy, Marc Senter, who had some flattering things to say, at least as far as horror fans are concerned. “The best thing about this film is that it doesn’t hold back,” Marc explains. “Even at times when people were telling Ti (West) to hold back, he just pushed the envelope further. Eli laid the groundwork with the first Cabin Fever, but fans will definitely not be let down by this one. Aside from all of the horror, I think Ti’s incorporation of 80’s themed films will bring something else to the fans. It will bring a certain quality, a goodness.”

Convinced yet? I don’t blame you if you’re not, but suffice it to say I’m pretty damn excited to see what they can do with it. Look for the full set visit as we get closer to the release of the film, and keep it here for more Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever updates as they come in!

All right, you party hardy folks from Brooklyn… this one should speak volumes to you and your sinful, decadent, and raucous ways! Today we’ve got an exclusive clip from the upcoming psychedelic horror title Psychotic! A Brooklyn Slasher Film, which sees one of the characters getting high in a bathroom and then thinking he’ll pull a prank on his friends. However, it turns out that he’s never seen Psycho because we all know what happens when you’re in the shower and someone mysterious enters the bathroom! Witness the Evolution of Jason Voorhees in New Animated Video

Published

on

I love Jason Voorhees.

And what makes Jason my favorite of all horror movie villains is that, unlike Freddy, Michael, and Leatherface, Jason has evolved a f*cking ton over his cinematic lifespan.

Changing from a bald kid in a lake, to a backwoods butcher with a love for potato sacks, to an unstoppable zombie force, Jason has come a long way, baby. And today’s animated video is all about celebrating Jason’s evolution in a fun, informative way.

Do you have any “non-horror” friends that are interested in the story of Jason but will never watch the films with you? Then here is the cute widdle video from Tell It Animated just for them. You’ll enjoy it too.

You can give the fun video a watch below and then let us know what you think!

Synopsis:

Jason Voorhees has changed a lot since his first appearance in Friday the 13th. From skinny child to hockey mask slasher to rebuilt space Jason and back again, this video goes through his progression.

Exclusive: Uncrossing Rock Out in Get It From Me

Published

on

Alright rockers, we’ve got something just for you here! Today, we’re happy to premiere “Get It From Me” from new rock group Uncrossing, which features Activator guitarist Jared Drace! The track comes from the band’s upcoming self-titled EP and it’s a moderately paced, sludgy, doomy track that features strong female vocals. If you’re in the mood for something to get you through the rest of today until the weekend hits, head on down and hit ‘Play’!

Drace tells Dread Central, “Musically, this was a fun one to come up with just because it’s a total mish-mashing of influences, well of MY influences at least. I mean there’s a solid Type O Negative-style chug for the verse and an outro riff that has a kind of Tool-vibe to it, and that’s not even mentioning the melodic beer commercial-like solo in the middle which is definitely a side-effect of listening to too much In Flames & Arch Enemy in my youth! But assembled together and with everyone putting their own stamp on it, we get something that ends up sounding like an Uncrossing song.

Uncrossing’s self-titled 3-track EP will be available for streaming and free download on February 9. You can follow the band on Facebook or Instagram.

If you want to check out the band, you can see them on February 10 at Lucky 13 in Brooklyn, NY.
