New Behind-the-Scenes Images: George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead

Yes, you read the above headline correctly! Some brand new imagery from behind-the-scenes of the zombie epic to end all zombie epics, George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead, has surfaced; and what a glorious time we live in that we can dig on them right now!

Way back in the Seventies photographer Richard Burke scored himself what many would consider to be a dream gig by being assigned to take pictures of the filming of Dawn of the Dead by Pittsburgh Magazine.

Decades later Burke has rediscovered his original negatives and started putting them up both on his commercial site and of course on his personal blog.

You can check out a couple of samples below; for the rest hit up the above links. We here at Dread Central would like to take this time to thank Richard for sharing his own personal treasure trove of Dawn goodies with fans everywhere!

I wonder if he took any pics of the alternate ending that George wanted to do, where Peter kills himself and Frannie throws herself into the blades. I know they talked about that it was in the script, but that George’s wife talked him out of it, but I wonder if they tried to set it up at least.
