It’s always awesome to see one of our own in this crazy biz we call horror journalism make good. To go from covering the genre to becoming a part of it is no easy task, so it is with tremendous pride that we report on Rue Morgue Magazine founder Rodrigo Gudino’s latest film Cut Throats Nine.

According to Variety the film directed by Gudino retools the 1972 cult Spanish horror western Condenados a vivir. Thus far Mads Mikkelsen, Harvey Keitel, and Roy Dupuis have all signed on to star for Rodar y Rodar and Rue Morgue Cinema.

The action is set in 1892 in the American West, where a wagonload of murderous convicts is attacked by bandits. Only seven survive, along with a sergeant (Mikkelsen) and his beautiful young daughter. Stumbling toward its destination, the convoy degenerates into savagery with survivors being choked, stabbed, shot, and burned.

Cut Throats Nine will lens in Canada with post-production in Barcelona in early 2011. Check out the trailer for the original flick below.
