There’s not a lot Anna Paquin (pictured) can do that I won’t follow her to. For some reason I’ve always had a huge crush on her, especially as the super damaged Rogue in the X-Men movies, and until she’s doing romantic comedies I’ll be keeping an eye on everything she does.
Which is why it made me happy this morning to find out via The Hollywood Reporter that she’s been signed on to star in True Blood, a vampire drama setup over at HBO based on the Southern Vampire series of books by Charlaine Harris. Though the HBO title is a bit more generic, the quality of the show will have to speak for itself.
Stephen Moyer (Quills) has signed on to star alongside Paquin, playing a vampire who comes into a small town in Louisiana and falls in love with Paquin’s character, an innocent waitress who can read minds. The whole thing takes place in an alternate reality where vampires are commonplace and can even buy Japanese-made synthetic blood to keep from feeding on humans. But even though vampires are everywhere, it doesn’t mean they’re trusted by everyone.
Alan Ball wrote and will produce True Blood, which is set to roll soon.
