R.I.P. Frank Frazetta

If there’s one artist who throughout his career has defined the terms badass and rock and roll, it is no doubt Frank Frazetta. It’s with a really heavy heart we report that yet another legend of the industry is no longer with us.

His agent, Robert Pistella, confirmed today that the 82-year-old Frazetta has passed on due to a stroke. We here at Dread Central would like to take this time to offer our sincerest condolences to Frank’s family, friends, and constituents.

Frazetta’s work can be found in any number of places — horror comics of days gone by, numerous album covers, calendars, movie posters, you name it. He had a very distinct style that instantly upped the cred of whatever product it appeared on. He’s left behind an incredible legacy that will continue to evoke well deserved adoration from fans.

Usually we include a photo of the dearly departed with these obituaries, but we’re pretty sure Frank would rather be remembered for his artwork so below you’ll find my own personal favorite Frazetta piece.

Godspeed, good sir. Thanks for all that you’ve left behind and for all that you’ll inspire for generations to come.
