Halloween Stars to Follow a Trail of Bread Crumbs

Two Michael Myers veterans – one survivor and one victim – will be re-teaming for another go ’round of brutal murder and madness, albeit far, far away from Haddonfield, Illinois this time. Will they have better luck, or will neither of them see the final reel?

Marianne Hagan (Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers) and Kristina Klebe (Rob Zombie’s Halloween) will topline Bread Crumbs, a vicious take on the Hansel & Gretel fairy tale that freaked me the hell out as a young lad.

Spotlight Films is behind the horror flick written and directed by Mike Nichols (a different Mike Nichols). But the premise has to be among the most twisted and inspired that’s come across our desks lately:

Once upon a time … Angie, an aging star, reluctantly goes on one last shoot for a seedy producer, on location, in an enchanting old cabin deep in the shadowy forest. While on the shoot the cast and crew encounter Henry and his little sweet sister, Patti, two strange and mysterious children who seem to live in the woods.

A violent attack on the second evening of shooting sends Angie and the rest of the crew into a frightened frenzy. They lock themselves into their secluded cabin and find themselves trapped and surrounded by an unknown assailant. Could the two children be responsible for these vicious attacks?

After witnessing a horrible slaying, Billy, the handsome lead, takes Patti hostage as a means of gaining leverage against the unknown killer. This proves to be a fatal mistake as, one by one, the crew is horrifically slaughtered until only Patti, Angie, and Henry remain, resulting in a chilling final showdown between the three that ends in a terrifying conclusion.

In this fairy tale of terror the classic fable of ‘Hansel & Gretel’ is re-imagined into a visual enchantment of good and evil … eat the candy, if you dare.

Did we really need a play by play synopsis? What’s so hard about a teaser explanation? Sheesh.
“We are bad guys. That means we’ve got more to do other than bullying companies. It’s fun to lead a bad man’s life.”

Jeebus christ- why don’t they just give away the farm in the synopsis?

You are re-imagining a fairytale. You hold all the cards. And you tell me upfront who the final three players are? Regardless of who survives the final battle- takes most of the stakes away.

It’s sad, it seems like a cool idea. Maybe I will be proven wrong and I will be shocked- but this seems like piss poor marketing.

Kudos for an original idea at the least.

I like that poster! But like “I Spit…..” I do not like the tagline. This could be cool. Real cool.At least it’s something new. I don’t care if it’s a reimagining of an old fairy tale,it’s not a remake of an old film! My hopes are up.

PS: I can’t wait to see a trailer for this!
