Exclusive Altered Minds Clip Lurks in the Shadows

Published

on

Every family has its secrets. Some, however, are far, far darker than others. Altered Minds, from director Michael Z. Wechsler, may just unearth more than any one family can bear…

To give you an idea of the darkness within these Altered Minds, here’s an exclusive clip we found lurking in the shadows of the forest.

Altered Minds, a dark psychological thriller, unearths the long-closeted skeletons swirling about the Shellner family as they gather one final time on a snowy winter’s night. Or does it? You be the judge!  The film is currently available for download on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, YouTube, Vudu, Xbox, and PlayStation and on DVD.

Oscar nominee Judd Hirsch (Independence Day: Resurgence), C.S. Lee (“Dexter”), Ryan O’Nan (“Ray Donovan”), and Jaime Ray Newman (“Bates Motel”) star in this acclaimed festival favorite (formerly known as The Red Robin), available on extras-laden DVD featuring deleted scenes, audio commentary, and more from Entertainment One and Rowish Productions.

Synopsis:
Judd Hirsch stars as ex-CIA psychiatrist-turned-humanitarian Nathaniel Schellner, renowned for his work with war orphans suffering from PTSD — several of whom he and his wife (Caroline Lagerfelt) adopted. About to succumb to cancer, Nathan welcomes the entire family – including adoptees Harry (Lee), Julie (Newman), and Tommy (O’Nan) – back to their idyllic home for a final gathering before his death. Unfortunately, the warm reunion spirals out of control when Tommy, a tormented novelist, makes a stunning accusation that his father adopted his children not out of love, but for dark experiments in mind control. Plagued by terrifying visions of secret labs, underground cells, and implanted electrodes, Tommy makes a desperate bid to save his sanity by uncovering family secrets before it’s too late.

Bonus features on the DVD include:

  • Deleted Theatrical Scenes
  • Two Audio Commentary Tracks with Director Michael Z. Wechsler and Composer Edmund Choi (who share anecdotes from the shoot and post-production as well as different aspects of the filmmaking process)
  • Director’s Video Logs (from pre-production and table reads through every shooting day and post-production)

Exclusive: Cadabra Brings Chilling Eeriness With M.R. James’ Casting the Runes

Published

on

For those who haven’t heard of them, Cadabra Records is a boutique record label that specializes in creating audio plays of fantastic horror stories. They did it with The Yellow Sign by Robert W. Chambers and have done stories from Bram Stoker and H.P. Lovecraft. Today, we’re thrilled to help them announce their new project, which is a full cast audio play of M.R. James’ Casting the Runes. Below is an audio sample, which give you a taste of the magnificent scope of the production.

Starring David Warner (The Omen, Star Trek, In The Mouth of Madness), produced by Bleak December, and adapted by Anthony D.P. Mann, the limited edition vinyl will be released on January 26th with the first edition of 500 copies to be pressed on 150-gram colored vinyl and housed in deluxe heavy weight gatefold tip-on jacket with newly commissioned art by Adam Burke.

Speaking about lending his voice to Casting the Runes, Warner states, “I was brought up only with radio, so it means so much to me to be able to imagine for myself what is being presented. And we can all imagine differently what is being presented to us via audio and radio, and that’s what the magic of it is – our own imaginations are able to take over. As an actor (and a voice actor, sometimes), I’m so glad to be able to contribute to peoples’ visual take on whatever it is we’re presenting. I just think it’s so invaluable, you know – the images and dreams in the mind.

You can follow Cadabra through their official website, Twitter, and Instagram. To order any of their records, head on to their online store.

Check Out Episode 1 of the New VR/360 App Narrative Series Find Me

Published

on

Let me get this out of the way right off the top. I’m not really into the whole VR/360 experience. I’ve tried it out and it’s cool and all, but I’m not sold just yet.

That said, if you are into such games/experiences, you might want to check out “Find Me”.

The mobile app is a 360/VR narrative series from BlackBoxTV, James McFadden, Eric Jacks & Collab, as well as #YouTubeSpaceLA and The Los Angeles Times.

Each episode features visual codes and puzzles for you to solve, unlocking additional content and information available only in the app. That is until IRL gameplay begins in Los Angeles on December 25th and the app becomes your key to unlock locations in the real world.

“Find Me” will have one winner with a one-of-a-kind prize for the person who “finds” and frees the main protagonist Julia Zamora (played by Madison Lawlor) via the app.

Again, I’m not into these VR/360 apps but if you are – or want to try one out – I highly suggest taking on “Find Me”.

You can watch “Find Me – Episode 1” below and then make sure to hit us up and let us know what you think in the comments below or on social media!

Get the “Find Me” App for iOS HERE and Android HERE.
