Synopsis
When this year’s round of unsuspecting Northerners fail to show up for their annual Guts ‘N Glory Jamboree, the residents of Pleasant Valley take their cannibalistic carnival on the road and head to Iowa, where they encounter spoiled heiresses Rome and Tina Sheraton and the cast and crew of their “Road Rascals” reality show. Performing “The Bloodiest Show on Earth”, our Southern Maniacs prove more than ratings killers in what John Landis has called “one of the rare sequels that surpasses the original”.

  1. herm….90% of the time I agree with you Terminal. I can’t say I do this time though 2001 wasn’t a great movie by any standard I thought it was at the least entertaining. And I would also like to point out Robert Englund has been in some pretty horrible movies. So even if you thought 2001 was horrible. Did you ever try to watch the mangler? My god Tobe Hopper must have been really hard up to make that crap about a killer laundry folding machine. And on top of it Robert Englund starred in that rubbish.

I went off point. The man has made crap movies. 2001 wasn’t one of his worst.

    • 2001 was so bad I didn’t even bother reviewing it. I didn’t think it was possible to take a bad movie and make it worse, but they did in spades.

“We are bad guys. That means we’ve got more to do other than bullying companies. It’s fun to lead a bad man’s life.”

    • “The Mangler” was a hoot… It never came across to me as anything more than a tongue-in-cheek movie, and I think both England and Hooper were clearly having a blast making it.

      • There are 3, count them 3 Mangler movies.

Granted they don’t have much in common other than the name, but it is a franchise.

I fully expect a Platinum Dunes remake in the next 5 years.

“We at PD are pleased to be remaking the legendary picture ‘The Mangler’ by Stephen King and Tobe Hooper. We will try to stay true to the original story while updating it for modern audiences (stoned teens who can’t stop texting). You’ll never think about laundry folding machines the same way again!”

    • I have to concur. I have seen 2001 Maniacs a few times, and get a kick out of it. LOVE the end. At least it had somewhat of an original plot. It was a little gory and slightly humorous. In short: It was at the least an entertaining watch. And as far as Robert Englund goes, he has been in some pretty crappy movies since, even if it is just a cameo so the film can attach his name and gain more attention.

      • The original had the same plot and was not as awful as this was. Granted it WAS an awful movie, but watchable at the very least. The little pop culture jabs and cameos were so amateur. I have no plans to revisit the ridiculous premise.

      • Shockingly I agree with Floydian… AGAIN.
