Casting Update for Mathieu Turi’s Hostile

Last year we brought you the early details on writer/director Mathieu Turi’s first feature, Hostile; and now we’re back with some casting news on the post-apocalyptic film.

Co-starring will be Brittany Ashworth (The Crucifixion), Grégory Fitoussi (World War Z, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, “Mr Selfridge”), and Javier Botet (the [REC] series, Crimson Peak, Mama).

Turi, who got his start with short films Sons of Chaos and Broken, says, “With Hostile, I want to tell an intense and tragic story. The heart of the script is definitely the human being. It’s something fascinating and, according to me, too often put in the background in horror movies.”

The producers at Full Time Films – Olivier Chateau, Eric Gendarme, and Thomas Lubeau – have teamed up with famous director and producer Xavier Gens (Frontier(s), The Divide). Gens says of the film, “Hostile could be an instant classic. I have found in Mathieu Turi’s script a deep and emotional story, a new look at the genre, and a completely insane and never seen creature. That’s why I want it to be made… Definitely a new talent to watch out for.”

Synopsis:
“My name is Juliette, and I survived the Apocalypse. You think I’m lucky? You’re wrong…”

After a worldwide epidemic, most of the planet’s population is killed. Only a few thousand have survived and are struggling to find food and shelter. But they’re not alone:  They have to hide from strange creatures that go hunting at night.

Juliette, a young woman whose life has taught her to handle things on her own, is the only one in her group to have the guts to go anywhere near cities to find food. But on her way back to the camp one afternoon, she loses control as she’s driving.

She wakes up upside down, stuck in her car with a broken leg, in the middle of the desert, and… IT’S NIGHTTIME.
