First Details on After Dark Originals 51 and Scream of the Banshee

With Horrorfest very much back on track, we’re really excited about After Dark Films’ latest trip to the horror workshed — the After Dark Originals, which are being made in conjunction with Lionsgate and Syfy, and the first details on two of the After Dark Originals have just slipped out.

The first is Steven C. Miller’s Scream of the Banshee, starring Lauren Holly (“NCIS”) and Lance Henriksen (Aliens), which is now in post-production and tells the tale of an archeology
professor (Holly) who unearths a dangerous artifact, unwittingly releasing a creature that is able to kill with the power of its bone-splitting scream.

Details for the second film, 51, directed by Jason Connery (The Devil’s Tomb), are as follows: 51 chronicles what happens after political pressure from the American public forces the Air Force to decide to allow a select few well-known reporters limited access to the most secretive base on the planet: Area 51. But when one of the base’s hidden “long term visitors” exploits this unprecedented visit as a chance to liberate himself and his fellow alien captives, Area 51 turns from a secure government base to a horrifying destination of terror.

All eight Originals will benefit from After Dark’s new and innovative marketing and release strategy. Scream of the Banshee is scheduled to premiere on Syfy in 2011. Additionally, the second set of Originals has already been greenlit and will start production in July, 2010.

  1. I’m losing faith… everything so far sounds like low grade, unoriginal creature features.

I guess After Dark isn’t going to recruit talent for these projects.

I guess we’ll get another dozen ‘The Graves’ the height of After Dark lameness.
