Burton Ready to Unleash Frankenweenie

Tim Burton has never been busier! Coming off the success of Alice in Wonderland, he’s working on several other projects including the much talked about big screen adaptation of Dark Shadows (note, however, that MTV has squashed his rumored 3D adaptation of The Addams Family, for now at least). It seems, though, before getting to any of them, Frankenweenie will finally be thrown his bone first.

Ain’t It Cool News heard from Waking Sleeping Beauty director Don Hahn (executive producer on Frankenweenie), and he told the site, “The puppets are ready, the script is done, and now that Tim Burton is clear of Alice in Wonderland … he’s set to helm Frankenweenie in 3D.”

Unfamiliar with Frankenweenie? The 1984 short is one of Tim Burton’s earliest flicks and, as you may have guessed, a parody of the 1931 film Frankenstein based on Mary Shelley’s book of the same name. The story tells of a man who brings his dog back to life after it is killed by a car.

Look for more soon, and dig on the original film below thanks to the wonder of YouTube!
