At long last, production will soon begin on a feature film adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, which has been on again, off again more times than we can count over the years. Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey will star in the main roles, and a genre fave has just been added to the cast.
Per THR, Fran Kranz (The Cabin in the Woods) has signed on to play Pimli, the right-hand man of the Man in Black.
Based on the King-penned fantasy series, the film will follow a wandering knight (Elba) who is the last hope of the fallen land of Mid-World. He is charged with finding the Dark Tower while battling his nemesis the Man in Black (McConaughey).
Nikolaj Arcei is set to direct, with Ron Howard and Brian Grazer set to produce under their Imagine Entertainment banner. King and Erica Huggins also will produce.
Expect more soon!
