Freestyle Releasing is bringing Friend Request to the U.S. sometime during the 4th quarter of this year, but first the film arrives on UK shores. To celebrate its UK release, a pair of clips and a new trailer have arrived.
Directed by Simon Verhoeven, Friend Request stars Alycia Debnam-Carey (“Fear the Walking Dead”), Brit Morgan, William Moseley, and Connor Paolo. It was penned by Verhoeven with Matthew Ballen and Philip Koch.

Synopsis:
One simple Facebook decision has deadly consequences in this chilling social media horror.
Laura (Debnam-Carey) is one of the most popular girls in her high school, seemingly adored by all. She is then sent a Facebook friend request by lonely Marina (Liesl Ahlers). Having initially accepted, Laura finds herself being obsessively pursued by Marina and not long afterwards hits the “unfriend” button. When Marina apparently commits suicide in an online video, Laura’s life takes a turn for the terrifying, and she becomes the victim of a supernatural presence, attacked in her own home by a mysterious force. Is Marina responsible? And why does she refuse to disappear from Laura’s friend list, even as it increasingly diminishes in number?
Striking right to the heart of the social media generation, this topical and spooky horror is bound to have everyone thinking twice before unfriending that certain someone.
