Elvira Set to Host the 2016 ScareLA in Pasadena

Each year ScareLA, the Southern California convention dedicated to all things Halloween, just gets better and better; and with this latest news, the 2016 event is sure to be the best yet. Read on to learn who will be hosting ScareLA this year along with a few more details.

Halloween icon and fan-favorite Elvira, Mistress of the Dark has been named the official host of ScareLA 2016. With her signature quick wit and vampish good looks, the horror hostess of Elvira’s Movie Macabre began hosting movies on a local Los Angeles television station in 1981 and became a pop culture phenomenon.
“I’m thrilled to partner with ScareLA as the official host of their 2016 convention this August,” said Cassandra Peterson, the actress who portrays Elvira. “ScareLA is THE place for haunt and horror fans and industry professionals. And what could be better than beginning the Halloween celebration early?”
Elvira’s hosting duties compliment the 2016 convention theme, “Season of the Witch” while the convention’s tagline, “Cast a Dark Spell on the Summer,” celebrates the spooky, scary, and unusual things in Southern California and beyond. Both the theme and tagline also highlight female empowerment.

ScareLA 2016 is set to take place August 6-7 at the Pasadena Convention Center and tickets are on-sale now. Guests will have an opportunity to take pictures with the Mistress of the Dark on her famous red sofa on Saturday. Elvira will also be signing autographs in addition to having a scheduled meet and greet with fans.
Launched in 2013, ScareLA celebrates the West Coast’s Halloween industry – from its iconic theme parks to its home haunts. With more than 200 curated vendors, artists, and exhibits, ScareLA attendees will be able to enjoy presentations, classes, and workshops for all ages, children’s programming, haunt experiences, a screening room, games, a costume party, and more. Attracting close to 10,000 guests in 2015, ScareLA is one of the fastest growing independent conventions in the United States.
