If you were a fan of “Sons of Anarchy,” then you’ll probably be thrilled to learn that its creator, Kurt Sutter, is collaborating with comic writer Caitlin Kittredge on a new violent supernatural series called Lucas Stand, which was announced at WonderCon 2016, with USA Today dropping some extra details.
In the series, the titular Special Ops solider attempts to commit suicide after finding himself unable to integrate back into society, only for the angel Gabriel to save him and subsequently cut him a deal: If he becomes a literal avenging angel and goes after escaped demons from Hell, he will be spared from eternal damnation himself, with every demon he kills resulting in one of his own sins being redeemed.
No pun intended, but that sounds like one hell of a good deal.
Issue #1 of Lucas Stand hits stores on June 1st from Boom! Studios with art by Jesús Hervás.
“There’s all these crazy demons and amazing implements of death, and [I’m] able to run with it without worrying… ‘How the [expletive] are we going to do this?’” Sutter says with a laugh. “So that’s been very liberating.”
