Check Out the Short Flick that Inspired Gary Tunnicliffe’s Hellraiser: Judgment

It’s difficult to get excited about the Hellraiser franchise these days. It’s so far removed from where it began that most people have written it off entirely. Regardless, special effects mastermind Gary Tunnicliffe currently has his hands full with the latest installment, Hellraiser: Judgment.

However, it remains to be seen if Tunnicliffe can breathe new life into a franchise that is essentially DOA. But trust me when I say I’d love nothing more than for someone to finally get things back on the right track.

According to Bloody Disgusting, Tunnicliffe’s Judgement (seen below) originally started out on the crowdfunding circuit. Unfortunately, the short film eventually vanished from the internet, but it has since returned to the interwebs for all to enjoy. And while it’s not as polished as some might like, it’s still much better than the latest Hellraiser movies. In fact, it’s kind of badass.

If nothing else, it shows that Hellraiser: Judgment could be a return to form.

Synopsis:
Detectives Sean and David Carter are on the case to find a gruesome serial killer terrorizing the city. Joining forces with Detective Christine Egerton, they dig deeper into a spiraling maze of horror that may not be of this world. Could the judgement awaiting the killer’s victims also be waiting for Sean?

Hellraiser: Judgment stars Damon Carney, John Gulagher, Diane Goldner, Mike Jay Regan, Andi Powers, Jeff Fenter, Heather Langenkamp, and Paul T. Taylor as Pinhead.
