Talisman the Series?

Some more very cool Talisman news has come down the wire today courtesy of Steven Spielberg’s official site by way of Lilja’s Library.

During an advertising presentation at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC last week, the subject of the planned Talisman miniseries was discussed. It was confirmed that the infamous Stephen King/Peter Straub novel would be coming to the small screen, specifically TNT, in 2008, with a possible series to follow in 2009! Where they would take the adventure is anyone’s guess, but it sure will be cool to find out.

Spielberg will be producing but there’s no official word yet on who will be at the series’ helm. Hopefully not another music video director, as this is a project that needs some serious class attached to it to be done right.

For those unfamiliar with the story, it follows young Jack Sawyer on a quest to retrieve the titular object, the only thing that can save his dying mother. His travels lead him not just across our world, but also into another place known as The Territories where doppelgangers of the people he knows here exist in different capacities and magic rules. The story is epic and cherished by all King fans, so whoever is responsible for making it real has a lot to live up to!
