We’ve been aware that the release date of Visceral Games and EA Games’ Dante’s Inferno is next Tuesday, February 9th, for quite some time now, but come this weekend, millions more people will be joining in the anticipation as the game is set to make a splash at the Super Bowl with a cinematic and moody 30-second spot.
The commercial offers a hint at Dante’s epic struggle to rescue his beloved Beatrice from the Devil’s grasp and illustrates his descent into the nine circles of hell, battling Satan’s minions and hoards of Hell’s demons.
Dante’s Inferno takes gamers to the Western world’s most definitive view of the afterlife as created by the 13th Century Italian poet Dante Alighieri. Each of the nine circles will showcase its own distinct look with demons, monsters, and geography that are crafted straight from the poem’s vivid descriptions. Using Death’s Scythe, Beatrice’s Holy Cross, and a slate of magic powers with a deep, customizable upgrade system, players will experience a fast and fluid 60 frames-per-second gameplay experience.
Take a look at the commercial below, and prepare to enter the underworld on February 9th.
