Another bit of casting news for the television take on “The Exorcist” has arrived.  Deadline reports that Geena Davis has joined the series to play Angela Rance – a naturally beautiful, regal and proud but weighed down by stress, person who does everything she can to stay positive and keep her faith even though her family is currently struggling.

Angela can’t help but think, however, if perhaps her nightmares about a demon are a sign of what’s wrong.

“The Exorcist,” penned by feature writer Jeremy Slater (Fantastic Four), is described as a modern reinvention of the book, previously adapted into William Friedkin’s classic horror movie. It is a propulsive, serialized psychological thriller following two very different men — Father Tomas Ortega (Alfonso Herrera) and Father Marcus Lang (Ben Daniels) — tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession and confronting the face of true evil. The show also stars Beasts of No Nation‘s Kurt Egyiawan as Father Bennett, a liaison for the Vatican.

He joins the previously announced Hannah Kasulka and Brianne Howey. Kasulka will play Casey Rance, the wallflower of the family. Casey is worried about her sister, Charlotte (Howey), who has been holed up in her room ever since her serious accident.

Rupert Wyatt is set to direct. More as it comes.
