Jay Mohr to See the Light of the Hereafter

Jay Mohr to See the Light of the HereafterOne more cast member has been added to Clint Eastwood’s supernatural thriller Hereafter, and it’s not someone you hear connected to our genre very often. Jay Mohr has signed on to play Matt Damon’s brother, Billy.

Variety describes Hereafter as “the story of people touched by death in different ways,” and as previously reported, those people include a blue-collar American, a French journalist, and a London school boy.

Along with Damon, Mohr joins Bryce Dallas Howard, Cécile De France, Mylène Jampanoï, Marthe Keller, Thierry Neuvic, Charlie Holliday, Frankie McLaren, and George McLaren. Peter Morgan wrote the script, and filming is taking place in Paris, London, Hawaii, and San Francisco.

Hereafter is slated for a theatrical release in December of 2010.

You're such an inspiration for the ways that I will never, ever choose to be.

Variety is right in that it is about people who’s lives have been affected by death and the possibility of the afterlife. But the script I read was very dreary, low-key story that has no resolution, apart from an emotional one. And even that is achieved through a poor plot contrivance.

Whether they’ve punched up the script or not, I don’t know. But the minimalist style seems to suit Eastwood pretty well So I imagine that will be exactly the movie he makes.

Just don’t go in expecting another SIXTH SENSE is all I’m saying.

A ‘supernatural thriller’? I read the script and it was barely supernatural and not the least bit thrilling.

Although it will be interesting to see the super-hot Mylene Jamapanoi in an American film.

Supernatural was Variety’s choice of adjective, which is why we’re covering it. Nowadays it’s tough to know what projects to include on the site and what not to, so we figure better to have too much than too little. And like you said, the cast is so interesting that if nothing else, it should be fun to watch.
