Having essentially defined a subgenre of horror (long-haired, scary Japanese female ghosts) all by his lonesome, Ring director Hideo Nakata is fixing to get back into the game with what sounds like an amped up version of Saw. Read on for more.
According to Variety, Nakata will take control of The Incite Mill. The film is “based on Honobu Yonezawa’s eponymous bestseller [and] tells a ‘Big Brother’-ish tale of 10 people hired for a ‘job’ paying $1,200 per hour, only to find themselves locked in an underground complex and forced to play a murderous game for seven days.”
The film is tentatively scheduled to begin production in early March. We’ll bring you more when we have it. Hopefully, Nakata will take this into different territory.
As for his previously announced Voice from the Stone, which we reported on this past November, according to IMDBPro that’s still on track to start filming in late spring/early summer 2010, which could fit well after The Incite Mill is done shooting.
