Kristian Day Spreads Bird Seed in New Short Film

We’re always on the lookout for up and coming filmmakers who do things a little differently from the norm, and composer Kristian Day seems to have accomplished that with his new short film “Bird Seed”, which was written, directed, and scored by him.

Filmed in the autumn of 2009, Day’s “Bird Seed” is a glimpse of a one-sided need for being wanted and holding on to what makes someone happy. It was shot in Des Moines, Iowa, and stars Vanessa Giselle (the ex-singer from Iowa hardcore band Victim or Victory) and newcomer Leila Sutcliffe. The gore make-up was by Patrick Boltinghouse of Vanity & Glamour.

As the director explains his motivation for “Bird Seed”, “I don’t like doing auditions with new actors for features; I’d rather make short films with them to see how we work together. ‘Bird Seed’ is a prime example of this.”

Check it out below. If your tastes run more toward the avant-garde, you should dig it as much as we did.
