We knew that Anchor Bay’s release of Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (review) was going to be limited, but until now the assumption was that, come March 16th, we’d have to just hope it was playing near us.
Anchor Bay wouldn’t do that to us though; they like us too damn much. Hit the official Behind the Mask site right now and you can see a full list of theaters it’ll be opening in next Friday. Don’t see your city on there? Don’t despair because new listings are being added as they become available!
For those not in the know, Scott Glosserman’s debut film is a dissection of the slasher archetype in a way that’s never been attempted before. Set in a reality in which Michael Myers and Freddy Kruger are real people, we’re introduced to Leslie Vernon, whose only goal is become the Next Big Thing in the world of masked killers. There’s really no synopsis that can do the film justice, so just make sure you keep your eye on the theater listings so you can check it out come Friday, March 16th!
