Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: What Scene from the Book Do We Hope to See on the Screen?

First off, the whole concept of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies REALLY appeals to me, being a huge fan of both The Walking Dead and the novels of Jane Austen (quite the range there, eh?). So, when I was asked to write about which scene from P&P&Z the novel I was most looking forward to seeing on the screen, I was at first at a loss.

The dance where Lizzie first meets Darcy? The Netherfield Ball? Random zombie attacks?  Nothing quite fit. But then it hit me… my favorite scene in both Austen’s original novel and again in the mashup: Elizabeth Bennet’s “showdown” with the imperious Lady Catherine de Bourgh. A bitchy scene in the book with Lizzie wonderfully holding her own against the uber-snobby much older aristocrat, in P&P&Z this scene becomes a fight almost to the death with Lady Catherine’s ninjas, their throwing stars, and her nunchucks; Lizzie’s katana (hello, Michonne!); and the bitchy rudeness, again, of Lady Catherine (“Obstinate, headstrong girl!“).

If this scene plays out on screen as well as it did in P&P&Z, then Elizabeth Bennet (Lily James) and the nasty Lady Catherine (Lena Headey) should put on QUITE a show; and I for one am quite looking forward to seeing that scene, amongst ALL the other blood and mayhem of the rest of the film.

Synopsis:
A zombie outbreak has fallen upon the land in this reimagining of Jane Austen’s classic tale of the tangled relationships between lovers from different social classes in 19th century England. Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet (James) is a master of martial arts and weaponry, and the handsome Mr. Darcy (Riley) is a fierce zombie killer, yet the epitome of upper class prejudice. As the zombie outbreak intensifies, they must swallow their pride and join forces on the blood-soaked battlefield in order to conquer the undead once and for all.
