Clive Barker to Bring Forth Black Is the Devil’s Rainbow

Clive Barker to Bring Forth Black is The Devil's RainbowClive Barker prepping a new short story collection is both good and big news for fans. Sometimes news sneaks out of the weirdest place nowadays.

Earlier this evening Barker posted the following from his Twitter account: “Research day for polishes on a novella for the collection of short fiction to be delivered soon: ‘Black Is the Devil’s Rainbow’.”

What’s that, you ask? With a little bit of digging, the following came up on the official Clive Barker Info Site:

Black Is the Devil’s Rainbow: Tales of a Journeyman

…These stories were originally intended to accompany the ‘Pinhead vs. Harry’ novella which grew into the full-size novel now known as ‘The Scarlet Gospels’. Originally planned a decade ago as providing a home for all the previously uncollected short stories, together with a whole bunch of new pieces of short fiction, this has recently taken on a more important role in collecting Clive’s meditations, poems, and selected shorter pieces. ‘The Scarlet Gospels’ was a title originally planned for a standalone collection of erotic poetry and prose, then (like other titles before it, including ‘Everville’ and ‘Saint Sinner’) had the title recycled and was planned as the title-piece novella within the collection before it outgrew its place here.

Clive suspects a possible Halloween 2010 publication is now in the cards for ‘Black Is the Devil’s Rainbow’…

‘Nuff said. We are so there.

You're such an inspiration for the ways that I will never, ever choose to be.

Absolutely…we’ve been waiting years for ‘The Gospels’, but hopefully these will manifest soon. It’s been a long time since Barker wrote short fiction, I think the last one I read was an obscure yet very atmospheric and moving piece called ‘Coming to Grief’…
    Can’t wait.

    Sweet!

Now how about a release date for ‘The Scarlett Gospels’…
