Lionsgate Locks Peter Cornwell in The PanopticonFrom the brief summary provided by Lionsgate, the studio’s upcoming sci-fi thriller The Panopticon doesn’t seem to have a lot in common with an actual Panopticon, a type of prison designed by philosopher Jeremy Bentham in the late 1700’s wherein all the cells are visible from the center of the building, but with The Haunting in Connecticut director Peter Cornwell at the helm, it’s sure to be a fun ride anyway.

The script for The Panopticon was written by Craig Rosenberg (The Uninvited) and is described in Variety as being the tale of a salesman [who] receives a pre-recorded message from himself that tells him the world is about to end and only he can save it.

Lionsgate acquired the project as a spec and will finance the film and control worldwide rights. Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian will produce, and Rosenberg will be exec producer. The plan is to put it into production next year.
