Silver on Invasion

Remember that movie being helmed by Das Experiment director Oliver Hirschbiegel, The Invasion? I wouldn’t be surprised if you said no since the title’s changed a few times, but it’s the one with Nicole Kidman in the lead that started life as an Invasion of the Body Snatchers remake, since morphing into its own beast. Sort of.

Well, producer Joel Silver remembers it (which I guess is more important than if we do) and chatted up Sci Fi Wire about its status recently, dispelling rumors of Kidman being upset about being hurt on set and the Wachowski Brothers finishing off the film.

“We have to make these movies exciting, thrilling,” Silver told the site. “The car was on a vehicle that kind of slammed into a light pole, and Nicole was kind of shook up a little bit, but she’s a trouper. She kept going. But it looks great, and it’s going to be a great film.”

And what about those wacky Matrix brothers finishing off the film? “No, no, no. … Oliver Hirschbiegel directed the movie and did a great job. And we’re kind of working our way through it, and it should come out this summer.”

Working our way through it? Not exactly the most comfortable of phrases when describing the status of a film, is it? Sorta like how a couple would refer to their troubled marriage or something. Well, I guess we’ll wait for summer and see if it all works out!
