DVD and Blu-ray Releases: January 26, 2016

Well, folks, our weeks are getting a bit more packed with releases. As I write this blurb from the Connecticut shoreline during an epic blizzard, I find myself wishing that this upturn in DVD and Blu-ray releases had happened a week or two earlier, but what can I do? I think the term “Netflix and chill” seems irritatingly ironic in this case.

Seeing as you’ll be reading this later, hopefully you all managed to weather the storm safely (or you just live in California like Uncle Creepy).

Our only classic for the week is 1988’s Jack’s Back, featuring James Spader. I always liked that James Spader was able to transcend the “stereotypical dick” role call that refused to release its grip on others such as William Zabka, Paul Gleason or William Atherton.

Our next oldest release is 2000’s Sideshow. This is the first new release of this movie on DVD in 16 years. If you like other Full Moon movies, then you know what to expect of this one.

Outside of that, pretty much every other release this week is fairly recent, including the Trancers short sequel (1.5 if you will), City of Lost Angels.

Keep reading below to see if anything jumps out and grabs you. Meanwhile I will be contemplating the shoveling of what looks like endless snow. Enjoy your week, and keep checking back each week as February is absolutely jammed with new releases. Pleasant viewing.
