Not since Ernest Scared Stupid has there been a more anticipated melding of a beloved movie character and our most favorite of holidays. Having already tackled Christmas, Tyler Perry’s dragging it up for Jesus once more in Boo! A Madea Halloween.
Production has begun on Tyler Perry’s eighth Madea movie, slated for release on October 21st. According to Variety, the idea sprang from a joke in Chris Rock’s Top Five movie and Lionsgate suggested Perry make it a reality.
Boo! A Madea Halloween sees Madea spending Halloween fending off killers, paranormal poltergeists, ghosts, ghouls, and zombies, all the while keeping a watchful eye on a group of misbehaving teens. Expect a lot of laughs and a lot of lectures about getting right with Jesus.
I hope there’s at least one scene where Madea puts on the ghostface mask and calls up terrified teens asking “What’s your favorite Perry movie?”
Bella Thorne, Cassi Davis, Patrice Lovely, Andre Hall, Yousef Erakat, Lexy Panterra, Diamond White, Liza Koshy, Brock O’Hurn, Jimmy Tatro, JC Caylen, Kian Lawley, and Mike Tornabene co-star alongside writer/director/producer Perry in this one. Sorry, folks. No Larry the Cable Guy this time.
I’ve been joking about such a movie for years, but sadly, they did not use my suggested titled: Madea Goes to Hell: The Final Perry.
