Ridley Scott Claims Alien: Covenant Will Receive a Hard R Rating

Award-winning director Ridley Scott apparently has big, bloody plans for Alien: Covenant, the follow-up to his polarizing sci-fi epic Prometheus. The film, which takes place 10 years after the events in his 2012 endeavor, could be an absolute treat for horror fans. In fact, Scott claims he’s delivering some serious stuff in the next installment of the long-running Alien franchise.

According to AvPGalaxy, Scott is looking to satisfy those who enjoy the more genre-oriented aspects of the Alien series. In fact, the director recently told a reporter following his win at the Golden Globes that he’s aiming for a hard R rating. Scott is also hoping to top the introduction of the chest burst sequence in the original Alien flick, although, truthfully, that’s a pretty tall order.

As we previously reported, Alien: Covenant will also feature several variants of the genuinely terrifying Xenomorph, including an “egg, face-hugger, chest-burster, then the big boy.” Although it may sound like overkill, apparently Scott has a gameplan. I can’t wait to see it in action.

Alien: Covenant and its hard R rating arrives on October 6, 2017.
