Elfman’s Wolfman Score Falls on Deaf Ears, New Composer on Board

And The Wolfman‘s long road to the big screen takes yet another unforeseen twist. This time it’s a situation around the film’s score that needs some extra TLC.

Cinemusic reports today that due to “scheduling conflicts” Danny Elfman has had to abandon his duties on the upcoming remake, and in his place will be Paul Haslinger, whose work you may be familiar with from Underworld, Death Race, Vacancy, and Crank.

Haslinger is set to begin recording in January for the film’s February 13th, 2010, release date. Talk about cutting it close. We’ll keep our ears to the ground for any further developments.

    Don’t know why, but I’m just tired of Danny Elfman (and it seems I’m not the only one). Glad to hear he’s not doing the score.

    Elfman can suck a big fat dick. I’m sorry but all his scores sound the same to me. I really don’t need to hear a variation of the same thing he’s done before yet again especially in this flick which doesn’t seem to fit his style. While I’m at it screw Oingo Boingo too.

    Same thing happened in 2004 when Howard Shore left the score for King Kong. They had to bring James Newton Howard in like 2 months before the film’s premiere to write and compose an entirely new score. luckily it didn’t turn out disastrous. Hopefully nor will this one.

    Paul Haslinger is an excellent moody composer. He’ll fit the bill better than Elfman. Dont get me wrong i love Elfman and most of his scores are amazing but they always seem bright, bombastic with a tint of mood as well as a slap of sideshow glee. Like The Frighteners, Batman, And so on. Plus his last few scores, Terminator 4, Wanted scores left me cold. Paul has the ability to be old fashioned but also new age.

      Nicely put. Still waiting for this film to come out is like flying in a plane with heavy turbulence. All you can do is sit there pray you don’t crash despite all evidence to the contrary.
