A couple of Dread Central staffers were discussing our preliminary picks for the best films of 2009 the other day, and one that we all agreed on was Neill Blomkamp’s stellar District 9 (review here).
What we weren’t sure about, however, was what we’d be seeing on the DVD and Blu-ray when they drop later this year, but today that question was answered for us. Per usual, DVD Active got the skinny, which is as follows:
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced 1-disc DVD, 2-disc DVD, and 2-disc Blu-ray releases of District 9 for the 29th December.
Extras on the 1-disc DVD will include a director’s commentary, a 3-part documentary (“The Alien Agenda: A Filmmaker’s Log”), and a Koobus Big Gun feature. The 2-disc DVD and Blu-ray releases will include all that, along with additional featurettes (“Metamorphosis: The Transformation of Wikus”, “Innovation: Acting and Improvisation”, “Conception and Design: Creating the World of District 9″, and “Alien Generation: Visual Effects”).
Artwork is still forthcoming but should show up shortly so keep it here for more.
