Movies like Wait Until Dark and Castle Freak explored the terror of being a blind person in the midst of a horrifying situation, and Anthony Byrne heads down a similar path with his upcoming film In Darkness. On tap today is the first casting news, along with plot details, so read on.
Per Deadline, “Game of Thrones” actress Natalie Dormer will star in the psychological revenge thriller, which she co-wrote along with Anthony Byrne. Production is set to star early next year, with Byrne in the director’s chair.
The film centers on a blind musician (Dormer) who gets pulled into London’s dark underbelly after she hears a murder committed in the apartment above her. As she becomes embroiled in this violent and murky world, it appears she is out of her depth — until we realize she has been following her own path of revenge for some time. Ed Skrein and Stacy Martin co-star.
42’s Ben Pugh and Josh Varney are producing alongside Byrne, with Rory Aitken and Josh Horsfield executive producing.
XYZ Films has just acquired international sales rights and will present the project to buyers at the upcoming American Film Market.
