Things have been quiet for the last couple of months regarding Tales of an Ancient Empire, but this weekend we got word from director Albert Pyun that not only is his cast expanding, but he’s also close to sealing a deal on the film’s North American distribution.
The producers are in final discussions with Steven Seagal (as “Oda”) and are also talking to 50 Cent’s management about him coming aboard to play “Tariq”. The film is expected to be finished and have its industry premiere at AFM, which runs November 4th-11th this year.
In addition to DVD sales, the distributor Pyun is in talks with is eying a limited theatrical run with the initial cities likely to include Austin, Chicago, San Diego, San Francisco, Honolulu, Seattle, and Atlanta. I’ve seen a few excerpts from Tales, and it definitely has the scope to merit big-screen treatment. Not to mention plenty of blood spraying, swords flying, and swashes buckling!
Look for an official announcement soon.
