I lost count of exactly how many Silent Night, Deadly Night films there were. Let’s see … there was the classic original flick that caused quite a stir. So much so that they barely filmed any original footage for its sequel Silent Night, Deadly Night 2 and things just sort of went batshit crazy from there. Bill Moseley was involved, there were brain pans, killer toys, Egyptian cults … you name it. Lionsgate announced today that they will be bringing three of those crazy-ass sequels home in one shiny three-disc box set.
Wait until you read these synopses. The films included are:
Silent Night, Deadly Night 3: Better Watch Out
Ricky Caldwell, the notorious “Killer Santa Claus,” awakens from a six-year coma after being kept alive on life-support by a slightly crazed doctor experimenting with ESP and other special abilities. Ricky spies Laura, a young, clairvoyant blind woman who is traveling with her brother and his girlfriend to their grandmother’s house for Christmas Eve. When Ricky decides to go after her, he leaves a trail of dead bodies in his wake.
Silent Night, Deadly Night 4: Initiation
A female reporter is investigating the death of a woman who, on fire, leapt off of a building to her death. The investigation leads her to discover the existence of a strange cult. The cult, dedicated to the Egyptian god Isis, now wants her as their new queen.
Silent Night, Deadly Night 5: The Toymaker
A young boy sees his father killed by a toy that was anonymously delivered to his house. Afterwards he is too traumatized to speak, and his mother must deal with both him and the loss of her husband. Meanwhile, a toymaker named Joe Peto builds some suspicious-looking products while a mysterious man creeps around both the toy store and the boy’s house…but who is responsible for the killer toys?
Look for these masterful pieces of cinema to be in stores on December 1st. Ho, ho, holy shit.
