More Cast Members Added to John Carpenter’s The Ward

John Carpenter takes us to The WardHas John Carpenter really been away from the big screen for almost ten years? Okay, maybe Ghosts of Mars wasn’t amazing, but I thought it had enough going for it to warrant a look. That said, I don’t think Carpenter’s done with the scares just yet, and I’m pulling for The Ward to be his triumphant return. Oh yeah, there’s some new casting news, too.

According to the IMDb, Jared Harris (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Mamie Gummer (Taking Woodstock), and Lyndsy Fonseca (Kick-Ass) have been added to a cast already featuring Amber Heard (All the Boys Love Mandy Lane) and Danielle Panabaker (that shitty Friday the 13th remake).

The film, written by Michael and Shawn Rasmussen, is an intense psychological thriller set in a mental institution where a young woman, Kristen (Heard), is haunted by a mysterious and deadly ghost. As danger creeps closer, she comes to realize that this ghost might be darker than she could have imagined.

I’m there.

  • Didn’t See It Coming

I haven’t liked anything of Carpenter’s since Prince of Darkness. I love the concept at work in this movie, and I love the cast. I just really hope Carpenter does whatever he can to bring back his old mojo.

If i’ve got my timelines right, i haven’t liked anything JC’s done since In The Mouth of Madness. It would be awesome to see him return to form with a nice, claustrophobic little spookshow, and the premise makes this one sound like just what the doctor ordered.
