Horror anthologies are making a big time return, with 2015 exports like Tales of Halloween and A Christmas Horror Story helping to kick-start the resurgence. Up next, the team behind the V/H/S series heads Southbound, and a distribution home has been found. Read on for details!

Per The Wrap, The Orchard announced today that the company is acquiring North American distribution rights to Southbound, which had its world premiere in the Midnight Madness section of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. The distributor plans to release the film in the first half of 2016.

The anthology features a unique narrative structure: five haunting tales tied together only by the fact that they all appear to take place in the same general universe. On a desolate stretch of desert highway, weary travelers–two men on the run from their past, a band on their way to the next gig, a man struggling to get home, a brother in search of his long-lost sister and a family on vacation–are forced to confront their worst fears and darkest secrets in these interwoven tales of terror and remorse on the open road.

After seeing such success with V/H/S, we look forward to a repeat performance with Southbound,” said producer Brad Miska. “Working with this group of dedicated and talented directors has proven to be a terrific experience and we are happy that The Orchard will be bringing our film to U.S. Audiences.”

Directors of the individual segments are Radio Silence, David Bruckner, Roxanne Benjamin, and Patrick Horvath.
