As some of you may recall, Universal Pictures was reportedly working on a big-screen adaptation of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s award-winning series Locke and Key, but apparently that’s no longer the case. Unfortunately for fans of the graphic novels, the studio has scrapped plans for the film. However, there’s a chance the characters could pop up on the small screen.

During a quick chat with BrokeHorrorFan.com, Hill revealed that Universal had pulled the proverbial plug on the Locke and Key movie. However, since the folks at IDW Publishing are starting to produce their own television series, there’s a possibility that the graphic novel could eventually wind up on the small screen. Hill didn’t say anything beyond that, but at least there’s a chance Locke and Key may live on as a TV series. Unfortunately, that’s all the info we’ve got for now.

Way back in 2011, Fox produced a pilot for Locke and Key, although they ultimately decided not to pick up the show. Check out the trailer for the proposed 2011 series below.
