Ellen Page Is Preparing to Drop Dead for Flatliners Remake

Of all the movies to remake, Flatliners seems like an incredibly odd choice. It was never one of those movies I felt compelled to purchased on DVD, but I almost always stopped to check it out whenever the flick popped up on cable. For whatever reason, the folks over at Sony are keen on remaking the movie, and they’re assembling a very talented team to make it happen.

In addition to bringing filmmaker Niels Arden Oplev (the original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo movie) and writer Ben Ripley (Source Code) on board, Variety reports that Sony is close to signing Ellen Page to star in the flick. It’s unclear what role she’ll play, but most would assume she’ll take on the role Julia Roberts tackled in the original film. We don’t have a release date just yet.

Director Joel Schumacher’s Flatliners, as you may recall, tells the story of several cocky medical students who decide to take an unscheduled trip into the afterlife. Just before death settles in permanently, their buddies bring them back to life. Unfortunately for the students, their experiments end up having very deadly consequences. Check out the trailer for the original flick below.
