Robin Hood Goes Southern Gothic in Sherwood Horror

Forget about in the days of yore. In days of gore is what Sherwood Horror will bring us. A contemporary re-imagining of Robin Hood set in a small Southern town overrun by vampires? Don’t you worry, never fear, Rob Locksley will soon be here.

Having won the Grand Prize Winner of the Creative Screenwriting Magazine’s AAA Contest and directed the award winning 2001 short film film The Flock, writer/director John Regan is gearing up for his first ever feature film entitled Sherwood Horror. A modern reworking of Robin Hood with a horror twist, the film tells the tale of Rob Locksley, an ex-con who returns home after a six-year absence to find his town under the rule of vampires. He must join forces with his old roughneck hunting buddies to wage war against the evil Sheriff and his horde of blood-sucking minions. Regan is currently in talks with DJ Perry (In the Woods, The 8th Plague) to star as Locksley.

I wonder… Will Maid Marian actually work as a maid?

Regan sent along conceptual design by artist Matt Bahr of what the human form of the evil vampire Sheriff Nottingham will look like. Admittedly, human form vampire Nottingham is not quite as interesting as what monster form vampire Nottingham will look like, but the film is still in pre-production and we’ll know doubt be seeing and hearing more about Sherwood Horror in the near future.
