The Bermuda Depths Finally on DVD

The Bermuda Depths Finally on DVDHaving been sick most of the past two weeks I’ve been behind on the news. For example, one of the most sought after made-for-television rarities from the 1970’s is now available on DVD for the first time ever. I’m talking about The Bermuda Depths. And that’s not the only new genre gem the Warner Archives Collection is now making available for order.

I reviewed the rarely seen Bermuda Depths (review here) for this site years ago and to this day I still get emails sporadically from people wanting to know where to find it on DVD. There’s even been an online petition trying to push for a DVD release. At long last – Rankin-Bass’ eerie tale of a young man’s encounter with a ghostly siren and a giant sea turtle haunting the Bermuda Triangle is finally available on DVD exclusively by ordering through the Warner Archives custom DVD service.

The turtle has also brought with him a killer tree monster and a rampaging pig. The Warner Archives have also dipped into the vault to offer up the 1953 bad movie classic From Hell It Came, a killer walking tree terrorizes a South Pacific island, and director Russell Mulcahey’s 1984 cult favorite Razorback, “Jaws in the Outback” with Gregory Harrison in Australia hunting and being hunted by an enormous man-eating boar.

It’s also worth noting that another classic Seventies TV classic, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, is also now available for pre-order, though a specific release date has not been specified. Given the big screen remake of that one is firing up I’m kind of surprised they aren’t holding off for a more official retail DVD release of that equally sought after rarity.
