Medium Prepping Night of the Living Dead Mash-Up

The cast of MediumNow that the show has made the move from NBC to CBS, “Medium” producer Glenn Gordon Caron is ready to snaz it up a bit to encourage viewers of new lead-in “Ghost Whisperer” to stick around. To that end, he has acquired the rights to use footage from Night of the Living Dead in an upcoming episode.

According to The Live Feed at, Caron will stage a mash-up episode inserting Patricia Arquette’s character [Allison DuBois] into George A. Romero’s classic film. The outing will air just before Halloween.

“I’m so excited about it because I love that movie,” Arquette said. “Also I started out in horror movies with Nightmare on Elm Street, Part 3.”

I admit to losing interest in “Medium” during the last season, but this news and the network switch-over have both definitely rekindled my curiosity. How about yours?

Hmmm. Given that Night of the Living Dead is public domain due to Romero omitting the copyright statement, or something like that, the “rights” should have been pretty easy to come by.

As far as Medium goes, I only made it 5 episodes into the first season before Arquette made me want to puke. Does it get better, or does she remain the selfish, whiny, screamy, intolerable character she portrays in those first five episodes? The episode where she has to lie in court and plays it out like she is being asked to sacrifice her child killed it for me. Talk about melodrama; she acts like a 12-year old. I started watching due to the fantastic reviews here and elsewhere. If I keep watching, is it more of the same, or does Arquette quit being so repulsive?

As long as it’s better than the anniversary abomination with new footage (which still makes me puke–and not in a good way), I’ll check it out, although I’m not a fan of the show…
