Syfy Slates Dushku’s Graves, New Corn for September

default-featured-image

Remember that Eliza Dushku movie about a group of surfers finding a cursed board game that claims a life whenever played? It seems like we’ve been reporting about Open Graves for a couple years now. That might be because we have. We last reported on it this past February, quoting Dushku herself as being unsure if or when the film would see the light of day. How does September 19th on Syfy sound?

For those of you dying to see Eliza Dushku wet and in peril after playing a board game made from the skin and bones of a witch executed during the Spanish Inquisition, set your Tivo’s and DVR’s for Saturday night, September 19th, at 9/8 Central.

A week later, Saturday the 26th brings us the world premiere of Syfy’s Children of the Corn remake. Forgive me if I don’t have high hopes for this one. Besides, nothing will ever top the majestic corniness of Children of the Corn 2: The Final Sacrifice. Do you really think Syfy can put anything better on the screen than an elderly person in a wheelchair getting hit by a car and flying through the window of a building where more old geezers are playing Bingo just in time for one octogenarian to stand up and exclaim “Bingo!” No, I don’t think Syfy can ever equal such high standards.

Now for those of you worried that these two are taking away Saturday night time slots from the usual Syfy monster/disaster/space operation-of-the-week flick, lightning strikes on September 12th. That is to say Lightning Strikes, starring Kevin Sorbo and “Who Wants to be a Superhero?” season two winner “The Defuser” as two people fighting to save their town from a monster hiding in the lightning, has its world premiere.
