Saw VII Under Way Soon

Saw VII Under Way SoonEven though not a single ass has been placed in a theatre yet for Saw VI and won’t be for months, that hasn’t stopped the powers that be from getting quickly to work on Saw VII.

Variety caught up with writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan to find out what would be next for them after the Dunstan-directed home invasion film The Collector gets its 1,350-screen release on July 31st from Freestyle Releasing. The duo revealed that they were about to get to work on the script for Saw VII for Lionsgate.

Ponder that if you will. VII Is two trilogies not enough? Jigsaw’s been dead since Part III! How much more can this horse be whipped before it’s declared legally lame and sent to the glue factory? Tell us what you think below, and look for Saw VII in theatres (or quite possibly direct-to-DVD) in October of 2010.

You're such an inspiration for the ways that I will never, ever choose to be.

  • Frostbyte13

My husband is of the opinion that they will bring Jigsaw back as a twin brother that is out for revenge. They are going to just keep making these movies until their cash cow runs out, then they will move on to something else.

Every fight is a food fight for a cannibal.

  • GoGo_Not_CryCry

What did we expect? With so many stories and ‘twists’, would it really take only six movies to tie up ALL the loose ends and plot holes in the first five (soon to be six)?

  • Blockbuster

I’m just waiting for them to say that this isn’t a new sequel, but the reboot of the franchise…except, this time, Jigsaw is a woman.

  • elric300

So much for SAW ending with six, as Lionsgate once said.

It could be perversely interesting to see just how much they beat out of a series who’s antagonist has been gone for three films, already.

  • DavidFullam

It’s the series that will never die, regrettably.

  • Blockbuster

I know what’s going to happen next! Jigsaw is going to come back to life via a lightning rod in his grave via a former survivor of his game and next thing you know he’s stronger and faster than ever before…mix in the creepy goth elements and you have Saw Part VII: Jigsaw Lives! (Complete with exploding headstone!)

  • Enraged_Otter

I think this franchise has become sentient and has begun a self perpetuating reproductive cycle. We’re all doomed to shitty Saw movies dominating the halloween season forever.

  • PelusaMG

After Saw VI bombs, this is going D2D baby!

  • BadAsh

    I’ll go see it.

Just like I’ll keep going to KISS concerts.

  • Floydian Trip

It never ends. I bet it makes alot of money too. These movies have never been good.
