Seth Rogen took to Twitter a short while ago to post the news that AMC has given “Preacher” a series order and to show off the series’ new artwork.

Seth’s tweet – “Preacher is coming to AMC! The beginning is nigh!!!” – was light on details, but a few of the gaps were filled in by Deadline, who said the order is for 10 episodes, and the network is planning a May 2016 launch.

Expect a lot more soon.

The project, from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, Sony TV, and AMC Studios, centers on Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), a conflicted preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven and develops the ability to make anyone do anything he says. Along with his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), the three embark on a journey to literally find God.

“Preacher” was developed by Rogen and Goldberg, who directed the pilot, and Sam Catlin (“Breaking Bad”), who wrote the script and will serve as showrunner.  Rogen and Goldberg executive produce through their Point Grey banner, along with the company’s James Weaver. Also executive producing are Catlin, Original Film’s Neal Moritz, Vivian Cannon, and Ori Marmur as well as Ken Levin and Jason Netter. Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon (creator of the 1990s comic on which the show is based) co-executive produce.

The cast also includes Ian Colletti as Eugene Root, aka Arseface; Tom Brooke as Fiore, one of two Adephi angels sent to Earth; Derek Wilson as Donny Schenck, a Civil War re-enactor and abusive thug who gets into altercations with Jesse Custer but nevertheless shows up to church on Sundays; Jamie Anne Allman as Betsy Schenck, a meek wife who appears to suffer beatings by the hand of her husband, Donny; W. Earl Brown as the villainous Hugo Root, the mean-hearted father of Arseface and a local sheriff; Lucy Griffiths as Emily; and Elizabeth Perkins as Vyla Quinncannon, a genteel but formidable businesswoman who owns the local slaughterhouse in Annville.
