With the Halloween season now in full swing, the big screen is about to be taken over by some hotly-anticipated horror flicks, including next weekend’s release of The Visit. In the meantime, two new horror films arrive on VOD this weekend, so read on for all the details.

First up, Office Space meets From Dusk Till Dawn in Brian James O’Connell’s Bloodsucking Bastards (review), starring Joey Kern (Cabin Fever) and Fran Kranz (The Cabin in the Woods).

In the film, Evan Sanders is a low-level, dutiful employee stuck in a boring job at a soul-killing every corporation. Evan’s the kind of guy who does all the work and gets none of the credit, but at least he gets to spend his days with his beautiful co-worker/girlfriend, Amanda, and his slacker best friend, Tim, so he soldiers on in the hope of one day getting his coveted sales director position.

Unfortunately, it all falls apart in one fell swoop when Amanda breaks up with him and Evan’s boss, Ted, hands his promotion to his college nemesis, Max. And it isn’t just their sordid past Evan has to deal with. After his fellow officemates start going through disturbing changes and bodies begin to pile up, Evan learns the horrible truth: Max is a vampire. And even worse… a vamp with a plan.

Directed by Josh Forbes, Contracted: Phase 2 is a continuation of Eric England’s tale of sexually-transmitted terror, and it looks to be even more vomit-inducing than the 2013 film. IFC Midnight and BoulderLight Pictures bring it to limited theaters and VOD outlets today.

Contracted: Phase 2 follows the story of Samantha as she suffers from a mysterious and degenerative disease. The film centers on Riley, one of the last people to come in contact with Samantha, as he scrambles to track down those responsible for the outbreak before the highly contagious disease not only consumes his body, but the world as we know it.
