Huge New Batch of Stills from Blood: The Last Vampire

Published

on

One thing’s certain — Samuel Goldwyn Films and Sony are pulling out all the stops to make sure people are aware of the upcoming Blood: The Last Vampire, which is being released July 10, 2009. Not only have they posted the first five minutes of the film, which you can watch here, but today they provided us with 20(!) brand-new stills.

In addition, Blood: The Last Vampire has joined the social networking world with pages on both Facebook and MySpace. Become a fan and befriend them … you guys know the drill!

Finally, here’s a more detailed synopsis for the flick: On the surface, Saya is a stunning 16-year-old girl, but that youthful exterior hides the tormented soul of a 400-year-old “halfling”. Born to a human father and a vampire mother, she has for centuries been a loner, obsessed with using her samurai skills to rid the world of vampires, all the while knowing that she herself can survive only on blood like those she hunts.

When she is sent to an American military base in Tokyo by the clandestine organization for whom she works, Saya immediately senses that this may be her opportunity to finally destroy Onigen, the evil patriarch of all vampires. Using her superhuman strength and her sword, she begins to rid the base of its evil infestation in a series of spectacular and elaborate showdowns. However, it is not until she forms her first human friendship in centuries with the young daughter of the base’s general that Saya learns her greatest power over Onigen may well be her ability to make a human connection.

Gianna stars as Saya, and the cast also includes Koyuki, Michael Byrne, Colin Salmon, and Allison Miller. Chris Nahon directed the screenplay by Chris Chow. For more, including a list of theatres where you can see Blood: The Last Vampire when it hits the States, visit the official site.

Published

on

There are few films more beloved around DC HQ than Tibor Takacs’ 1987 monster-filled classic The Gate. It’s top to bottom fun featuring stop-motion beasties and a cute-as-a-button young Stephen Dorff, and that’s only a couple of reasons why the flick just rules.

Scream Factory (bless their hearts) just announced that its sequel, Gate II, will finally be getting a Blu-ray release; and we have your details and artwork right here.

Look for the flick starring original The Gate star Louis Tripp on February 27, 2018.

This supercharged sequel to the horror classic The Gate comes alive with unearthly creatures, heart-stopping action, and incredible special effects. Gate II picks up again with Terry, the teenage sorcerer who summons beings from the other side whose powers can be used to grant any wish. Unfortunately, before the Gate closes again, a “minion” – a tiny disciple of Satan himself – manages to slip through to our dimension. When the creature is kidnapped – all hell breaks loose.

Special Features:

  • NEW 2K scan of the interpositive
  • NEW Return to the Nightmare – A Look Back at GATE II – featuring interviews with director Tibor Takacs, screenwriter Michael Nankin, and special visual effects creator Randall William Cook
