Directed by Thomas Smugala

Though I question how much of a horror movie this is, it sounds like an interesting enough premise. Our story follows a girl named Amber, who was told her entire life that she’s ugly. She fights against this belief and goes on to become a fashion model, then returns to her hometown after the industry rejects here. Then the world ends. I guess that’s just the suckiest day of your life, eh? Soon she finds she has the charisma and balls to lead her corner of the world in the process of rebuilding. I just hope there are radioactive mutants… Buy it here!

Curse of the Black Dahilia on DVD!Curse of the Black Dahlia (2006)
Directed by Dan Goldman

No, it’s not the Brian DePalma Black Dahlia but rather a cheap made-for-DVD rip-off that follows the same true story. However, Curse takes place in modern day, when the empty lot the Black Dahlia was discovered in is now the home of an office building. One of the employees there begins to be haunted by horrifying visions and has to figure out the cause of the curse before bad stuff happens again. Buy it here!

Directed by Various

This must be a new experiment by the folks at Criterion as I’ve never heard of them putting out a box set of genre films before. Nice to see them trying something different after all these years, you know? Featured in this set are The Atomic Sub, Corridors of Blood, First Man Into Space, and The Haunted Strangler. All but Sub were directed by Robert Day, and each film has at least one feature included. Buy it here!

Directed by Roy Knyrim

Though it’s not been getting the best reaction yet (check out our DVD review), apparently Night Skies is worth your time for the simple fact that the creature effects are phenomenal. That’s not much of a surprise since it was helmed by Roy Knyrim, founder of SOTA Effects. The story is based on a real incident relayed to reporters from the infamous Phoenix Lights occurrence and follows a group of friend stuck in the middle of nowhere, pursued by some very pissed off aliens. Sasquatch Mountain on DVD!Sasquatch Mountain (2006)
Directed by Steven R. Monroe

Either this is the 15th Sasquatch movie Lance Henriksen has starred in, or they just keep changing the title of this one. Either way it’s another movie about Bigfoot causing all sorts of terror and mayhem, so what could go wrong? This time out we have a group of bank robbers who have to band together with the law officers pursuing them to try and elude the titular beast, which is out to eat them all presumably. Learn more about it from The Foywonder’s review before you rush out to get it! Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger!Saw III (2006)
Directed by Darren Lynn Bousman

Do you think when James Wan and Leigh Whannell came up with the idea for Saw they could ever foresee it going on for this long? Such a thing can never be predicted, but personally I’m glad they not only made the films interesting each time, but they seem to actually be getting better than the previous ones. Saw III is definitely a great example of that, gorier and deeper than either of the first two, and I bet Saw IV will be even more so. Check out Creepy’s DVD review of Saw III for more on what goodies Lionsgate has thrown at us this time! Buy it here!
